Hello!

If you ask anyone I know, they would tell you that my choice to become a hairstylist came out of left field and was completely unexpected but gosh, it’s the best decision I ever made. It’s funny how life has a tendency to lead you right to where you’re supposed to be….with a few curveballs, but hey, I’m good with that!

I’m originally from North Carolina and moved to California when I was 4. Most of my family is still on the east coast so you’ll find me hopping on a plane to go see them as much as I can. How does the saying go? You can take the girl outta the south, but you can’t take the south outta the girl! No no but seriously, I believe in hospitality like no other and I really think that comes from my roots.

After graduating high school in the midst of the 2008 Great Recession, I was trying to figure out what my path was. I was on the path to college but with everything so unpredictable, I decided to take another way. My stepmom, or my bonus mom as I like to call her, is a hairstylist so I spent some time in the salon growing up. I just couldn’t stop thinking of how her career choice really fulfilled her and gave her the flexibility to raise a family and really have balance in her life. So, after careful thought, I dove head first and signed up for beauty school!

Upon graduation, I started assisting for a successful stylist in town.  2 years later, I began building my clientele and if I’m being honest, that’s when I really started to fall in love with the industry. I guess you could say I was a late bloomer! Once the spark was there, it couldn’t be extinguished. I sprinted to every education platform I could find and soaked it all up! I soon realized, though,  that education in the industry wasn’t everything…it was not the golden ticket to success. I was reading one of those self help books (confession alert! I’m a total book nerd!) and the author was talking about how successful, happy, wealthy people got there by starting with their “why.”  “Why” do you get up in the morning? “Why” do you do what you do for a living? And so on.  It really resonated with me and made me do some serious introspective work. Through that, I found that my professional “why” was to make people feel heard. I started to realize that when someone feels heard, we can connect and trust, and from there, the confidence that comes from pretty hair is a cherry on top. As humans, we crave connection and thats something that is so important to me as a stylist. Once I hammered that down and started executing based on my “why” and not on my paycheck, within a few years, I had a fully booked clientele.

After working in the salon for over 10 years, I decided it was time for a more private, exclusive experience for my clients and I made the move to a salon suite.  It is so fulfilling to be able to offer a more personal experience and I am so grateful for the opportunity to work in such an incredible place!

I would love the opportunity to earn your business and I genuinely can’t wait to meet you! Please don’t ever hesitate to inquire about any questions you may have at (818) 620-2821.
